Enva announces SRF supply contract with Lafarge

Enva, working in partnership with Geocycle U.K, is delighted to have commenced delivery of high-quality Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) sustainable fuel following the signing of a new supply contract to feed Lafarge Cement’s Cauldon Plant in Staffordshire.

Last year construction commenced on the new Geocycle UK facility at Cauldon with a haulage and feeding platform for waste derived fuels. This facility will manage significant quantities of treated high-specification fuel before dosing into the adjacent Cement Plant. Enva has already commenced the supply of SRF to support commissioning of the development with volumes rising to contracted levels once this process is complete.

Commenting on the contract Enva’s Operations Director, Wayne Cornell, said: “We look forward to developing a long-term relationship with the team at Geocycle U.K and Lafarge Cauldon based on the consistent provision of high-quality sustainable fuel. In doing so, we are confident that we will provide a highly efficient way to reduce waste to landfill and help Lafarge cut their carbon footprint and meet their environmental objectives and those of their customers.”

Commenting on the contract Geocycle UK’s, Andrew Whyatt, said: “We are delighted to be working with Enva as one of our core suppliers. Their close proximity to the Cauldon Plant, coupled with their in-depth experience in producing high-quality SRF makes them an ideal partner in reducing our carbon emissions by co-processing waste that would otherwise go to landfill.”

The use of SRF to offset coal in the production of cement is a cost-effective way to significantly reduce carbon emissions and reduce pressure on the earth’s finite natural resources. Enva recently completed a £2m development of its SRF manufacturing line in Nottingham enabling the company to increase production by over 30%. The investment also further improved fuel quality and consistency enabling it to meet the stringent characteristics specified by customers such as Lafarge.
