ClearCircle invest in WEEELABEX compliant plant at Toomebridge
Techrec Northern Ireland (part of ClearCircle NI) is pleased to announce that it is moving from its current facility in Moy County Tyrone and building a new fridge recycling plant at Toomebridge County Antrim. This facility at a total cost of £5m is capable of recycling 10,000t (250,000 fridges) per year and will be the only WEELABEX compliant fridge recycling plant on the island of Ireland. The WEEELABEX (WEEE LABel of Excellence) has been introduced to outline best practice for the collection, transport, sorting, storage, treatment and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment.
The new plant will be fully operational in May of this year and will be able to achieve a recovery rate of 99%. The recovered material outputs from the process to include: Ferrous metals, Non-ferrous metals, Plastics, Gas, Cables, Glass, Oil, Compressors and Foam briquettes.
