In 2006 RILTA Environmental Limited acquired RETURNBATT Limited who had been in the battery recycling business since 1998

Rilta Environmental collect and recycle lead acid batteries from all areas of Ireland. 99.9% of each battery collected is recycled. All of the lead is smelted and re-cast into ingots or other lead products, the acids are used in the generation of gypsum and all of the plastics are recovered and reprocessed into reusable plastics. This closed loop process ensures that all batteries are recovered in an environmentally sound and responsible manner
